Business trips are not something I get to partake in, since my company does not need to send me anywhere. I wish I could travel, but sometimes my sister goes on those trips. She recently went to Nashville, Tennessee. As I prepared my clothes for the week, she detailed all the restaurants she would be visiting. I was like That’s great, enjoy. I mean, it’s not like I’m getting to eat any of that food.
During the entire trip, this girl consistently sends me photos of all her meals. They did look good. I was happy for her. I was. I wasn’t salty in the least. Her trip was only for a few days, but I’d meal prepped steak and pork chops, so let’s be clear —I was eating well too. Anyway, when she finally returned, it was pretty late, but she immediately popped open her suitcase and handed me a small plastic bag. I opened the warm package— and low and behold she brought me back a Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich.

I will not lie. I did dance a little. It was completely unexpected, and despite having already eaten a small dinner, best believe I ate a second dinner. And it was delicious! Ari was kind enough to pack me a mini side of coleslaw (mayo-based), but due to it being in her luggage for three hours, I had to throw it out. Food safety first! But the chicken sandwich was so tasty. Ari had the people use a medium hot sauce on the chicken, a few pickles for the acidity, and soft buttery buns. The chicken was cooked beautifully, still tender and moist. Once you took the first bite you think- this is great, but their isn’t any heat. But after a minute, a slow heat rose in the back of my throat and into my mouth. I literally started panting a bit because my mouth was on fire, but I kept eating. The burn was delicious. Since I didn’t have anything cool to eat with my meal I had to settle with some potato chips I had at home.
Although I wasn’t able to go to Nashville, Nashville was able to come to me! So if you are in the Nashville Airport make your way to Prince’s Hot Chicken. You will not be disappointed.Â
