Just north of Cincinnati, OH a new gas station has opened. You would have thought Cincinnati would have gotten one of the seven wonders of the world. And I guess that is right because Buc-ee’s is huge. It opened in early April and we decided to give it some time because we didn’t want to go when it was too crowded.
We made the decision to go early Saturday morning around 9am. We wanted to get there before 11 am because once they start serving lunch, they don’t have any beaver tots aka tater tots. The drive wasn’t too long, just 45 mins from north Cincinnati. The drive was nice and uneventful, the way I like every little side trip.
When we arrived, it wasn’t too busy. There were plenty of people, but plenty of space to roam throughout the store. I was on a mission to get a breakfast burrito, a brisket sandwich, beaver tots, and a coffee. But before we went for the food, we ran around the store to check out the merchandise. Buc-ee’s is really cool because they have hunting items, kitchen items, clothing, and so much more. We didn’t end up getting any of those items, but once we knew we had gotten the lay of the land, we headed over to the food station.

I immediately went to the breakfast area. Under the hot lights they had an assortment of premade burritos and I grabbed a brisket and egg burrito (a tiny burrito), and a bacon, egg, potato burrito (big and burly). And to round out breakfast I grabbed a bag of beaver tots. Before I left the food area, I also circled around the meat station and grabbed a brisket sandwich to eat for lunch later in the day. Alaina grabbed similar items to me and also grabbed condiments ie green salsa for the burritos and ketchup for the tots. And before we headed out we grabbed two medium coffees and off we went to eat in the car.
First things first, we prayed over our meal and then dug in. I was the only one who got the brisket and egg burrito so I dove into that one. The tortilla was amazing and so was the brisket, but I was not a fan of the egg. The egg to me was rubbery and didn’t add a good flavor. I then tried the bacon, egg, and potato burrito (aka The Beast Breakfast Burrito). I liked this better than the brisket and egg burrito and it was a lot better, especially when I added the green salsa to it. The combination of bacon and potato was able to overpower the egg, which is why I liked this one better. And lastly, I tried the tots. So salty and crispy, so, so good. I ate the whole bag and I had no regrets. The tots aside from the bbq is the reason to go to Buc-ee’s. That crunch was amazing. We then washed it all down with a dark roasted coffee with Hazelnut creamer. The coffee was nice and hot, and had a hint of hazelnut. I don’t like my coffee super sweet so I was happy with it.

Alaina and I both had a good time at Buc-ee’s and we were glad that we went, but we did favor a few breakfast items over others. If you go I would recommend you try a burrito, but try to get one without egg in it. Also, Buc-ee’s makes their own homemade tortillas and you can see them make it near the meat station (the machine was so cool!). You should also pair your breakfast item with the crunchy beaver tots.
