I love a good donut. It doesn’t matter if it is glazed, powdered or covered in chocolate. The donut can vary but it ultimately depends on my mood. Am I craving a jelly donut? Or do I want a classic like the glazed donut. It all depends. One of my sisters friends turned us onto a new donut shop, well a new to us donut shop, Hurts Donut. I chuckled when I realized the name was a play on words.
What I really liked about this place when I researched it, is that it actually offers coffee and not just drip. You can actually order latte’s, mochas, etc. The highlight of this donut place is that they are open 24/7. Hungry at two in the morning, go get yourself a donut.
Alaina and I were in the area, so we thought we would stop by and save ourselves a trip ;). The building is pretty cool looking with the decorations on the outside. We walked in and we were instantly overwhelmed. The display cases were filled with many types of donuts. They had huge cinnamon rolls, pie donuts like key lime, lemon, cherry, and apple, they had chocolate donuts, and so many more. It took us a few minutes to orient ourselves.
The young ladies working the counter were especially nice. We had a question about the key lime pie donut and asked if the filling was tart. She immediately asked if we would be interested in sampling the filling, which we quickly said yes to. In the back she pulled out two spoons and squeezed a little key lime filling onto each spoon and gave them to us. The filling wasn’t too sour, leaning more towards sweet, which we both liked.

Alaina and I ended up choosing the key lime pie donut and then chose a caramel apple donut. As we were checking out I noticed they had a drink fridge. There they offered water, gatorade, soda, and more. I thought that was a nice touch from what I typically see at donut shops. It is nice to have some variety.
Alaina and I took the donuts home and ate them as dessert after our dinner. Not gonna lie, the donuts kind of put me over the top. My tummy was extremely full. Alaina cut each donut in half and we shared each one. The key lime donut was nice and soft and flavorful. It had a nice sugar coating on the outside and was nice and chewy when I bit into it. The curd was in the middle of the donut and I had plenty on my portion. The other donut I tried was the caramel apple. That too had a sugar coating on the outside, but it also had glazed apple chunks in the middle with caramel and chocolate on top. That one was delicious. All the flavors complimented one another. If I had to choose one of them as my favorite, I would probably pick the caramel apple.
Bottom line, if you need a good donut at any hr or on any day, head on over to Hurts Donut. I don’t think you will be disappointed.
