Hello Kitty Cafe Chicago: A Must-Visit Spot

Hello Chicago! It has been a while. I haven’t been to Chicago since before covid. I was feeling a little restless and then I saw ProCam Chicago was throwing a Creative Lighting course so I decided to go and make it into a vacation. It ended up being a quick trip, Thursday to Saturday, but we had a great time.

One of the main reasons we had a great time, is the Hello Kitty Cafe in downtown Chicago. The only other Hello Kitty Cafe we had been to was in Guangzhou, China and the food was ok. This time we decided to give the HK Cafe another go and we were not disappointed.

One thing to note, the staff there was amazing. Everyone was super friendly and I honestly had a great time people watching. One thing is for sure, Hello Kitty unites people of different ages, races, and genders. I saw women with their kids all decked out in Hello Kitty and I was so happy to be surrounded by my people.

The cafe wasn’t extremely crowded, which I was thankful for. The dessert case was stuffed with a bunch of various goodies: fall cupcakes, birthday cake covered in sprinkles, sugar cookies, and so much more. We ended up splitting a autumn crumble cupcake and ordering two lattes. The cupcake was surprisingly yummy. It was nice and light and wasn’t very sweet with a good flavor. The frosting was nice and creamy almost like whipped cream. The lattes were really good to, but I had to ask them to reheat mine because it was look warm.

After we had our snacks, we hit the merchandise! They had various mugs, shirts, and lanyards. I was super excited about the sweatshirts they had because not only did they have Hello Kitty, but they had a sweatshirt for each Hello Kitty character. I’m talking about Pochacco, My Melody, and others. I was excited because Pochacco is my favorite and I don’t find many items just dedicated to him. I ended up getting the Pochacco sweatshirt, a Hello Kitty baseball cap, lanyard, and a pin to put on my lanyard. Alaina got a Hello Kitty sweater, baseball cap and pin.

Overall, the Hello Kitty Cafe was a huge hit. We had a great time sitting there and people watching. If you or family members love Hello Kitty, I would highly recommend you check this place out.
